Michael S. McGillion joined Phillips, Dunn, Shriver & Carroll, P.C. in July 2025, after 13 years in practice with another prominent Brattleboro law firm. A graduate of Macalester College, he ran away to the sea and sailed abord numerous tall ships on the east coast and pacific northwest, all of which encompassed an educational component. Finding terra firma in New York City, he worked as a carpenter and as an executive at Nature Publishing Group. Returning to school after a number of years, Michael graduated from Rutgers-Newark School of Law and began his career in Newark, New Jersey, in practice at Essex-Newark Legal Services.
Settling in Dummerston, Vermont after the arrival of his third child, Michael has both enjoyed and contributed to the community that makes southern Vermont so unique. A former member of the Dummerston School Board and Windham Southeast Supervisory Union Board, Michael is a current member of the Green Mountain Camp Board. In leisure he enjoys walking the dog, hiking, skiing and playing hockey.
Michael’s practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate, land use matters and related disputes thereto, and business law.
